James G. Fleming was born in Jackson, Mich. on Nov. 5, 1929. He earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the Detroit School of Law and attended a course for prosecutors at Northwestern University. He was formerly married to Shanna B. Fransted and they had three children, Amy Theresa, Kelly Ann, and James B. In 1966 and 1970, Fleming was elected as a Republican to the Michigan Senate from the 19th Senatorial District (includes all of Jackson and parts of Hillsdale and Lenawee counties). As of...
